Resistance Shift with Lead free

Electronics Forum | Thu Jan 19 16:25:03 EST 2006 | solderiron

Any metalurgists out there? I take the resistance value of a metal oxide substrate made of silver or gold or manganese. I then solder with 63/37 and the resistance changes but not dramatically. I then solder with Lead free SAC305 and the resistance c

Backing of Cards

Electronics Forum | Wed Feb 08 03:07:25 EST 2006 | Ajay SHarma India

Sir i have a question on Backing of Cards. pls. clarify me that Why we always do backing of cards(90 dC for 1hr. in a Oven) for the reflow process before printing the solder paste on the board. and same for the Curing process we are not backing the

Wave Solder, Flux density measurement?

Electronics Forum | Tue Jan 31 11:56:12 EST 2006 | kmorris

Just wanted to take a quick poll, as to how others are taking flux density measurements on their wave solder machines.(those that don't have flux density contollers) We are using a glass hydrometer, but I see there is a digital model on the market.

Solder paste Thawing

Electronics Forum | Mon Feb 13 09:18:06 EST 2006 | sumxp

Certain paste mfg specify 6 hours paste thawing time to normalize the temperature. I am using solder paste softerner to spin the paste taken out from fridge for 9 minutes and measure the paste temperature in jar.It is around 26'c(same as the ambient

Clean the No-Clean

Electronics Forum | Mon Feb 13 12:57:54 EST 2006 | Chunks

I'd check around for a wire solder that doesn't leave as much residue behind or a "clearer" residue behind. Or tell your customer you can save them a few bucks by just soldering a few points on the lid (since it's a air tight seal).

Green inductors

Electronics Forum | Thu Feb 16 16:16:19 EST 2006 | fredc

We saw something like this in the machine shop years ago. Fumes from a soldering operation in the shop turned exposed iron and steel tools and the spindle on my Bridgport mill green. Can your supplier apply plating or a coating to the exposed parts o

lead free and tombstoning

Electronics Forum | Fri Feb 17 11:01:47 EST 2006 | amol_kane

with lead-free solders, one would expect to find less instances of tombstoning. this is because SAC alloys are not eutectic and melt over a range of temp (usually 217-220 deg C) instead of at a single temperature. therefore the forces due to solder s

SMT line validation

Electronics Forum | Wed Feb 22 08:01:42 EST 2006 | INGE

We have a new SMT line, our customers are asking us the validation of the process. Not only the validation of the resulting assembled board (solder joint...) but also a validation of every single machine in the line (ex. stencil printer...). For exam

Hollis PT500N Wave Solder Machine

Electronics Forum | Thu Feb 23 09:21:36 EST 2006 | pjc

Be mindful that this machine is no longer support by the mfr. Electrovert/Hollis. There may be some support by third parties in the U.K. Its not a USA designed machine. It has a stainless steel pot, so it will need a titanium liner and new solder noz
