| What is the lifetime for a typical solder paste ? | How long can boards be stacked waiting before the paste goes off ? Lifetime and tack time depends on: - Manufacturer - Flux/mixture - Environmental conditions Typical lifetime is dependent on stor

X outs

You would have to tell us what machine brand you are using, as everyone has his own idea how to recognize X-outs. I find the auto-recognition very time consuming ( non-productive machine time ), unless the camera could recognize an image in one shot

Electronics Forum | Tue Dec 17 11:01:24 EST 2002 | Tim Marc

Hello all, One of our PCB manufacturers coated a through hole connecters vias with solder mask. The only IPC references that comes close to describing this problem is 2.9.2 Registration to holes, and subsequent specification 6.3.1 PTH Vertical fil

Magnet Fields v.s. Electronics

Electronics Forum | Mon Jan 26 21:28:55 EST 2004 | Dean

If this is in regards to the manufacturing floor: I can remember years ago I had an Fuji IP3 + MTU4. Used square magnets to hold tray stacks square to the machine. Manufacturing manager told me they should not be used. Apparantly the magnetic fie

Fiducial recognition using laser

Electronics Forum | Sat Apr 03 19:58:53 EST 2004 | Ken

I have used tooling holes and fiucial registration since the late '80's. In fact if your maximum "vision" tolerance is +/- 0.05mm, your in the same ball-park as locating pins. It is true that fiducial registration is more accurate. However, I woul

Hi all, In general, I am looking at restructuring of our rework processes in our factory. Despite all the effort put into design, process, material etc, there will always be some assemblies that must be repaired. Over the years, alot of hi-technolog

They don't index fast enough - On GSM's the original "black" feeders were replaced by "blue" feeders that indexed a lot quicker, that just about kept up with a flex head. There's no way one of those is going to index 8 or 9 times a second to keep

Upgrading to less obsolete equipment.

Electronics Forum | Wed Aug 23 04:04:25 EDT 2006 | bobpan

No Steve, Having the chance to work with newer equipment and 'latest and greatest' technology opens your eyes to older 'dated' machines limitations. If your growing and you may be going towards 0402's and even 0603's.......its better to upgrade and
