Industry Standard Acceptable SMT Component loss?

Electronics Forum | Fri Sep 15 10:20:26 EDT 2006 | russ

Yes indeed you make great point as well, we also run low volume production as well as some high running stuff, seems as though some type of combo nwould be best, maybe something like 20 pieces over or 2% wichever is greater maybe? Russ

Industry Standard Acceptable SMT Component loss?

Electronics Forum | Mon Sep 18 10:40:15 EDT 2006 | SWAG

Depending on what kinds of machines you run and feeder style, self adhering leaders work well to minimize the need for a long leader. We use them on every reel. We can generally load most feeders with only waste of about 4 parts by use of leaders (

SAC lead free solder joint strength specification

Electronics Forum | Sun Sep 17 09:02:53 EDT 2006 | davef

Just as you will not find such a specification for SnPb solder, you will not find such a standard for SAC. We talked about solder strength several times previously here on SMTnet. Search the fine Archives for others comments. For instance: http://

marking standard for .1% resistors?

Electronics Forum | Mon Sep 18 14:15:59 EDT 2006 | slthomas

Thanks Jerry. It's entirely possible that the parts that were originally kitted were Yageo so we at least have some chance of things being "as they should" on the bulk of them. Those also test out at 10.00 so we're not too concerned about them. The o

marking standard for .1% resistors?

Electronics Forum | Mon Sep 18 16:32:32 EDT 2006 | slthomas

Sorry, Jerry, I was just too lazy to include the k, as in 10.00k ohms. I don't have a meter that will read out to 3 places, so something like 10.014 would read at the upper limit of 10.01. Same problem exists at the lower end, obviously.

marking standard for .1% resistors?

Electronics Forum | Mon Sep 18 17:47:56 EDT 2006 | Cmiller

I would get yourself a better meeter. All resistors are sorted as far as I know so if you had a good meter you could just grab a reel of 5% parts and sort them your self. I have seen the markings both ways so I would not immediatly assume the parts w

Midchip solderballs (MCSB) on pb-free

Electronics Forum | Tue Sep 26 12:01:30 EDT 2006 | sliebl

We have solved our MCSB problems by using standard homeplate designs on all of our resistors and caps. I use a 50% taper and have achieved great results with 0402-1206 parts using both tin/lead and SAC305 paste. We use Amtech paste.

SAC solder balls reflow with Sn/Pb paste - Voids Issue

Electronics Forum | Wed Oct 04 13:58:38 EDT 2006 | cw

hi Dave.F and All, I need to reflow SCA solder balls on Sn/Pb paste, i get a pretty OK solder wetting and collapse apperance, however, i am seeing voids everywhere, some of them is greater than 25-30%, which has exceeded IPC standard. Please advise.

Quad/SMTech/MPM 400 printer question

Electronics Forum | Thu Oct 05 21:08:02 EDT 2006 | Dman97

Well, the monitor isn't touch screen. The light pen IS the mouse/trackball. If I touch the screen nothing happens. The industrial PC has no PS/2 ports of any kind on it. Perhaps I could splice into the light pen connections and connect a standard tra

Quad/SMTech/MPM 400 printer question

Electronics Forum | Mon Oct 23 15:16:32 EDT 2006 | Dman97

Thanks for the replys guys. There is infact a serial port in the back. It is COM2. I just had to plug in a standard mouse with a Serial to PS/2 converter and enable the mouse to use COM2 in the Windows control Panel. Works better than the stupid ligh
