Hi, We tried that, as the Soltec has a spray fluxer that can flux just the connector part of the board, however we get really heavy solder deposits on the rest of the board that has no flux sprayed on it, so we seem to need to coat the entire board.

Russ, We can not use a wave pallet, already went that route. We have parts next to the thru-hole pins and between thru-hole pins. I am going to try an experiment in the next day or so with solder mask. I plan to solder SMT parts on the back of se

Any decent flux would volatise off with the heat of the wave unless absorbed into the solder mask. Test this by trying to clean in alcohol or common solvent aerosol, if it does not clean then it is probably Mineral Salts from solder mask fillers. Ano

Thanks for the excellent info on testing uncured solder mask. I just checked with Chris Nash of the Indium Knowledge base and he told me that the Indium 3592 can be cleaned if need be and that I should contact Kyzen or Zestron (they are the 2 compan

Hi Dave, I haven't tried the Probimer yet, but the Taiyo ink didn't hold up too well. As a PCB fabricator, finding a white soldermask that has good trace coverage and survives 4X solder immersion (HASL) is like the holy grail of white soldermask.

First, it appears that your solder mask and your coating material appear to be incompatible. Second, IPA leaves a residue that's probably not compatible with your coating material, either. IPC-HDBK-830 - Guidelines for Design, Selection and Applic

I wanted to bump this up. I am having the same problems. I cannot convince folks it is a solder mask issue and not our process issue, even though it shows up after wave and wash. I can heat the boards and even send them back through the wave preheate

IPC-A-610F 10.2.6 Laminate Conditions - Depanelization talks to the acceptability of the depanelization criteria for assembled boards. There is no requirement for moisture sealing with epoxy or other material. Basically, the standard requires that th

Hi Dave, Thanks a lot for your reply. After doing some process work on a Laser Etching machine it was brought to my attention by a colleague that if the solder mask was being penetrated fully, we could be at risk for absorption of moisture leading
