We tried splicing and found numerous problems with jamming. To make a long story short, as a rule we just don't do it. There are exceptions such as; we are short a part and need to use several very short pieces of tape and reel parts.

I will be purchasing a printer for our company. I'm considering a used printer with 2d post inspection. Is it worth putting money into the vision inspection or would we be better off buying a separate automatic optical inspection machine downline?

Hello, I would like to design the thermal reliefs/pads of my through-hole components. I would appreciate any info, doc or link about how design them (dimensions, slit width, circular or square, etc). Thanks a lot and best regards, Javi

Does anyone have an opinion, good or bad, regarding the mpm ap24x? I've only ever done manual printing and have little clue about automated printers. I'm pretty new to this whole arena and any suggestions would be much appreciated.

AP24X is old model. Some parts are getting hard to come by. Check if the vision system is Cognex 2000 or 5000 and what the computer is. It may have been upgraded. Otherwise, its a good printer.

If an OEM and room is available on the PCB....have pin location aids silk screened on the boards. Groups of 10 are typical. might look like 1.........10.........20.........30 continue this around the device. Otherwise, ???

That hand held cleaner is 10K+. I have used one before. It works OK on paste, but doesn't do a thing for epoxy. 10 grand buys a lot of wipes and elbow grease.

We use a SAWA to clean our stencils and it performs quite well on solder paste but not so great with epoxy. Operators find the machine very easy to use and like mentioned before it takes up minimal space and has a lower intial and operating cost.

New Stencil Cleaning machine on the scene. Saw it at APEX 04, manufactured in West Viginia. http://www.pressureproducts.com/SPPC_Hm.htm
