Cleaning OA solder core residues with alcohol

Electronics Forum | Tue Aug 01 20:31:39 EDT 2006 | aespino

Does anybody knows if there is any reaction if I clean OA solder/flux residues using Isopropilic Alcohol? Is there any chemical recomended to clean residues manually instead of using a washing machine.

Good luck finding used. Ersa is top quality but you pay for it. The IR from Ersa is a medium wavelength thus heating is consistent across the board despite different component densities and colors. PDR does not heat the same and thus you have to be m

Can anyone tell me an approximate cost of the PDR 410 and/or ERSA IR rework station? Is the main advantage of using these systems over a hot air machine in that nozzles are not needed?

I was quoted a new ERSA IR550_PL550 unit last year for $36,500.00. I purchase a previously owned but never used one for $28,000.00. Jerry

We have the X410 machine here, checked out the ERSA, both came in around the same price but we liked the X410 better as the control software is excellent.

I have opportunity to buy MS-90 with ICOS Vision. We plan to use it for prototyping/very small series placing. Are there any other users and what can you comment about it? Thanks in advance! - Deni

Drying after aqueous wash

It depends on the water quality of your final rinse too. Too dirty and pools of water will trap residues on your board. If let to evaporate, these residues can stay on your board.

The cleaner does have a dryer, but does not remove all moisture - we can see that. It is functioning - we can see that too.

So what are your current drying parameters? can you adjust temp and time? is this a batch cleaner that may have some shadowing from the way it is loaded causing hot air to not hit certain boards? Russ
