Can anyone tell me what a reasonable real world percentage would be for tact time on SMT machines. If I have a machine rated at 14,400CPH what would be real world, 85%, 75%? Thanks

Peter- If you have all of these machines in your factory, why are you asking what their throughput and tact time speeds are? You should know better than anyone.

We have a very expensive MRP system that can (allegedly) do this, so naturally we also use an excel spreadsheet, which includes feeder loading times, 1st off inspection, printer set up, overhead recovery, machine time etc.

Is your machine programs gang picking? Work out a machine set-up for commonly used components to have a fix location on the machine ( preferably on the side the operator spends the least time ).Most of your change overs take place on the front of the

The majority of the time, all 4 lines are running 24/7, but it is a big juggling act with the parts. Whats clean, what can be move to another line etc.

Is it possible to advance the feeder at shorter intervals? So every time the part is picked the feeder moves 2 times shorter movements instead of one long move? Just a thought.
