Blistering issue, mixed LF/SnPb process

Electronics Forum | Fri Jul 28 09:20:10 EDT 2006 | pavel_murtishev

Good afternoon, No, defects arent trace related. Ive just posted reflow profile (reply to Chunks). I suspect the component only. All other components are fine. But I cant understand what exactly happens with this component. I tried to play with s

yellow residue

okay so both the 2005 formulas from interflux are clear alchol based fluxes. Yellow res huh? In looking at the temps here, I would say you might be too hot at both preheat and solder temp. You may be burning flux. How long is dwell time over wave

Companent storage time before soldering

Electronics Forum | Tue Sep 12 19:36:17 EDT 2006 | davef

We've been soldering leadfree components for maybe 15 years. We'd be surprised not to be able to store components for at least a year, not that we purposely do that. Component fabricator process determine the maximum storage time for components. M

Surface Tension vs Part Mass

Electronics Forum | Wed Sep 13 08:57:34 EDT 2006 | russ

yep, steve is right, it was kind of a joke but I have attached nuts and bolts to QFPs when it was deemed that a lot of components needed to be removed from some assemblies in a quick amount of time. Fit just means that it will fit onto part. thought

Forums a bit ugly

Electronics Forum | Fri Sep 22 11:42:07 EDT 2006 | Steve

I agree with one of the previous posters that phpbb is a great forum software. Tons of features and it's easy to manage. I also believe that we are very fortunate to have this free forum. I've grumbled under my breath a few times about the load times

Peak Temperature

Electronics Forum | Thu Oct 19 08:48:32 EDT 2006 | stepheniii

Time is also a factor, usually. IIRC almost everytime I"ve seen a max temp rating it also included time. ex. 225C for 20 seconds. If a part can take 300C but the spec sheet says 220C and you take it to 225C, it doesn't matter if the heat made the pa

Flux residue cleaning procedure

Electronics Forum | Tue Oct 31 01:32:47 EST 2006 | hanocete

thanks for your reply, actually we bake the PCB assembly prior the rework because the package was exposed for quite some time already. The baking time was 24hrs @ 125 deg.C. We notice that there were flux residues on the connectors after the baking.

Which AOI to buy?

Electronics Forum | Thu Nov 16 11:11:56 EST 2006 | jhaviland

I have worked with both Mirtec and Yestech and you really can't go wrong with either, they both have a good support group if you need it. by my take on the 2 is that yestech is a little less comprehensive inspection wise and a little slower than Mi

Board Baking recommendations

Electronics Forum | Wed Jan 03 16:52:19 EST 2007 | Pete

What is a foolproof means of eliminating moisture content from Printed Circuits that arrive (bot hpurchased and consigned) in unsealed, non-dessicant packed bags? Als, is there a procedure for basic mass of boards vs. temp/cure times? I need to min

Pump Stencil

Electronics Forum | Mon Jan 22 02:35:57 EST 2007 | AR

Thanks for the info everybody. As Real Chunks stated, a lot of paste is needed in order to solder the clinched part of the lead on to the pad. It can be done with a dispenser but it takes a lot of time. The good part is that the result looks surpris
