I agree with Russ. The problem is your thermal isolation is so small 1/16 inch. Also, most ovens measure temperaure in the plenum. You don't solder in the plenum. Therefore, you have a intermidiate "zone" temp. mixing between the top and bottom

I was afraid so. Hand soldering wires in general is not difficult, but with your constraint of the space restriction it does make fairly hard to do. I am assuming you have a 2 sided board and stranded copper wire. So once solder starts to flow, th

sant, When I worked in contract manufacturing, I used Air Vac or SRT systems which are rather large units. They are great for larger boards and BGA's. In my OEM life, I prefer smaller desk top units, which are more adapted to small boards with small

I experienced this with a high-mass capacitor. I was able to turn down the bottom-side convection (around 50C lower than each of the top-side heaters), and able to NOT lose any parts. I got the bottom-side part just slightly over liquidus, and min

Are you using nocleans, especially when you get to SMT? Years ago, I had OA wave flux get into vias that were plugged from the top under parts. It is really difficult to clean small, high aspect ratio vias. Cross sections showed that the copper in
