Have you tried replacing the LEDs in the illuminator? This is about the only 'wear' mechanism on a vision system, and should be pretty easy to fix.

Dear Sachu_70, During the tests we also checkt other devices, there are a few small voids visible, but they are marginal. We only see large voids in this device. During the testruns we tried several reflow profiles, but without large succes.

SERA testing is the solution. Try it. http://www.suite101.com/content/circuit-board-design-diagram-and-assembly-a249751

Hi Kevm, would it help to try solderability test of these pads using an agressive flux during soldering? Just a thought.

We have tried solderability testing using an agressive flux and have had good results. However, our Mfg process uses laser soldering equipment which is a validated process and we are limited on the type and amount of flux we can use due to ionic cont

First of all decreases to the minimum the reflow time (45-50 seconds) and if does not work, try with another type of slder paste. Good luck !

We agree with Bill. There's no standard, nor should there be. Why are you concerned about this? What are you trying to accomplish?

You might try assembly carrier tape such as Tacsil on your fixtures. Beware - arrays are very diffult to run in SMT flex unless you have no fine pitch.

We have found that the lenses on the Rebels have are gooey and sticky. We put a little bit of WD40 on the shutter part that contacts the lens. Just a little bit. Basicly, put a drop on and try to wipe it all off with a paper towel is enough.
