Re: How to do with tombstoning for component '0402'

Electronics Forum | Fri Nov 03 11:08:29 EST 2000 | Phil

Hi there!!! Actually, all mentioned ideas were significantly related to the cause of tombstoning. But, based on what DL said, you have to check the placement of your 0402. Coz, based on experience, i evaluated the different variables for the root

Tin-oxide deposits

Electronics Forum | Fri Oct 13 17:21:05 EDT 2000 | Jason Nipper

A few weeks back we experienced a wave process problem where we received deposits on our pcb. At first we though it was dedrites but after an outside analysis of the deposits they were found to be tin. We have tried to remove the deposits with brus

Try the following steps : FIRST CHECK THE ARCHIVE for further information, it WILL help you. Step One : Whats the chemical analysis of this white res? Obtain a sample. It could be tin, rosin, or something else??? Step Two : The fastest way I know

Donna: Independent from your machine capabilities, for I dont know a Contact 3SX, one thing that I encountered is that its often a nozzle related problem when trying to pick a smaller part like in your case. Although a nozzle was specified for a ce

Of course the others have great answers, try NOT to do it, for all of their reasons. However, had to do it in the past, OEM, custom chip, die wouldn't fit in a SM package, volume wouldn't support a second package type ...... and on and on. So we us

I cannot give references to papers, etc, but I can tell you from experience that High Impedance circuits and High Power RF circuits are not something to try no-clean on. For an aerospace customer, I had a circuit that any residue left between two pa

It realy depends on what no-clean you use, I had on that would get under IC's and not get fully activated it was fine here in the states but when it was shipped over seas the salt air and humidity gave us fits, another we used didnt have that problem

0603's on 0805 pads

Electronics Forum | Mon Aug 28 17:54:59 EDT 2000 | Steve Thomas

We're trying out 0603 packages on some 0805 footprints (at this stage only on some test boards) since our vendor tells us the 0805's are going to be getting harder to get, and more expensive to pay for. I understand the IPC footprint for the two is

attaching thermocouples

Electronics Forum | Wed Aug 16 16:43:47 EDT 2000 | Steve Thomas

O.K., I give up. I am through trying to solder thermocouples on to 20 mil pitch QFPs. Whether it's my lousy technique (fairly likely), the wrong solder (Kester calls it thermocouple solder, and who am I to argue...it's a Sn10Pb88Ag2 alloy) or just

Re: Costing new products - Qty of solder paste

Thanks Wolfgang / Charles Have tried method suggested by Wolfgang on one product, and seem to be a bit over (perhaps density calculation was a bit out). Also, the volume of paste deposited must be less than the voume of the apetures on the stencil b
