Re: IC tube recycling

Can anybody tell me what to do with IC tubes when we are done with them? Plastics companies want tons and we only generate about one hundred pounds a month (guess). We have been throwing them out... I got the recycling company to drop off

I used to work with Chris. (neither of us are there anymore). What is he talking about is putting components into "pockets". The parts would come in, in sticks (tubes) but we wanted them in reels. At first we sent them out to be reeled, but that w

Buy an electronic counter and simply spool your partial reels to an empty reel. It takes my staff a couple of hours to count every component on partial reels (~50 different values) and I have an exact number rather than an estimate.

Where to get large reel 0402 passives?

Hi, We used to use large reels of 0603 passives, but now we have moved to 0402 our supplier only has standard small reels. That's actually less components and we have to change the machine more often. Anyone know any supplier that has the very larg

This is getting deep but here's my input: Here's an idea....... Get a full reel and weigh it on a parts scale down in the stock room. Next weigh an empty reel. Subtract empty from full, and devide this value by the quantity of the full reel. This

Hi, Great, and thanks for the info. I will check it out. It's true lead times are long for large reels, but it's worth it when running. We have much faster machines now, but if we are sopped replacing reels all the time, it cuts into up time in a

Hi Grant, Murata do 0402 chip caps on 50K reels - example: GRM1555C1H101JZ01J 0402, 100pf, NPO/C0G 50V 5% (make sure the final letter is included - the J denotes the reel size - D is standard 10K) Rohm MCR01 series (0402 resistors) come on 6inch, 1

I was wondering if anyone knows of a tool, like a depth gauge, that is designed to measure the component count of partial SMT component reels. Most reels have a built in indicator gauge, but several do not. A tool would be handy for our physical in

I feel an SMTA vision award coming on. A depth guage sounds like a great idea (especially one designed specifically for that purpose). It should readout "components remaining". But until that product is avaialble, why not just save some of the empt

We use this for our measurements: N=(17000(D^2-d^2))/(C*P) N=number of parts on reel D=OD of carrier tape on reel (inches) d=OD of reel core (inches) C=thickness of carrier tape (mils) P=pocket pitch (millimeters) example: 6"OD on 3" core of 40-mil
