I think you might be looking for J-STD-006. Here is a link to the table of contents: http://www.dynamixtechnology.com/docs/j-std-006as.pdf

So you are suggesting to begin heating using a preheater only . . . then when the thermocouple under my PBGA reads around 130C, turn on a top side heater? Thanks

Thanks. I will turn off the machine activated cooling and have the part cool down at room temp (no compressed air cooling). Can you recommend a good paste / tacky flux?

yeah Jeff, i would make sure that you are not overheating part trying to get the balls to temp. Indium will sell you a couple of these cartridges for sure. Good Luck Russ

Take this chance to update your documentation. See Appendix B in: http://www.jedec.org/DOWNLOAD/search/jstd033b.pdf How much fun is that going to be? As an alternative, maybe your supplier can save you the pain.

Hi Steve, Depends where you are in the world too - if in the UK I would go for the Topaz - easier to program & use than the GSM2, if not as good a machine. However there's a lot of 3rd party Quad support if you're in the states.
