May i know how do we differentiate between Class 1, 2 and 3 components? What are the key differences between those three classes? When i check at IPC document, it is stated that Class 1: General Electric Class 2: Dedicated Service Electronic prod

hi, i am proccess eng solder wave process.I have problem with a PCB.There have ceramic SMD capacitor, SMD thermistor and SMD inductor 1uH.After reflow all is OK, but after SW these components are broken???The pin is separated from the body???the que

If the concern is the increased moisture absorption associated with lead-free capable materials, you probably have the most experience with phenolic materials like Isola IS410 or 370HR. The best move would be to switch to an IPC 4101/99 or /124 mate

How does one keep a pcb safe from ESD when applying an aerosol conformal coating on a flat surface? Even if you had an ESD mat to place the pcb on it would quickly be coated. The only thing I can think of is an ionizer. Does not the aerosol create a

I too have heard of the ESD problem when using aerosol spray conformal coating, but I haven't found any documentation. I have been spraying SR conformal coating for ~ 10,000 boards with no failures due to the coating. The person spraying is grounded

We wound up using a ramp to spike profile with 50 sec. between 150C and 217C and 90 sec. above 217C. The idea being the flux is still active when it hits reflow, and it stays in reflow long enough for the weird alloy in the parts lead to wet. All par

Reflow soldering de-ages the capacitors. Two things may be affecting your testing. * Capacitance measurements are often erratic during testing for about 10 hours after de-aging. * Test limits should be set so that the capacitance value is within the
