Epoxy on bottom of SMT component

Electronics Forum | Tue Nov 27 07:44:59 EST 2007 | davef

We do not paste when we glue. We glue components so they will stay inplace during wave soldering. In wave soldering there is ample solder to bridge the standoff between the component and the pad.

Wire soldering

Electronics Forum | Mon Mar 03 07:39:24 EST 2008 | realchunks

I would choose wave over hand solder. Top side wetting due to thermal mass will be your biggest obstacle. Of course I don't know the size of your soldering irons or how weak your wave may be.....

PCB contamination with NC Flux after Wave Solder

Electronics Forum | Mon Oct 22 16:47:09 EDT 2012 | edmundo

We use a NC Flux in the wave solder and after aAcelerated Life Test cicle we found contamination white residues paths between some solder points. Does somebody know a possible cause for this contamination.

What is the Lowest clearance achiveable with Wave soldering ?

Hello What is the Lowest clearance achiveable with Wave soldering i mean without getting solder shorts ? Thanks regards,

secondary processing of BGAs

Electronics Forum | Thu Mar 29 15:50:35 EST 2001 | tomgervascio

We've think that with seen solder shorts under BGAs after wave soldering the boards. In addition, it seems to be related to a certain soldermask configuration over the topside BGA vias.. THere is one vendor,A, that is applying soldermask after HASL,

White residue on PCB's

Electronics Forum | Wed Oct 11 09:55:10 EDT 2000 | Ian Harrison

Some boards that are populated by one of our subcontractors are getting a white powdery residue forming on them. I think it is the non clean flux and process which they are using that is causing the problem. Their process is as follows. Flux is put i

Re: Component Failure caused by Hot Air Knife

Electronics Forum | Thu Sep 21 12:03:35 EDT 2000 | Boca

We have been using a hot air knife on Electrovert equipment for a few years. It must be set up properly for a given machine, primarily the distance from the trailing edge of the wave. Sometimes the set up must be adjusted for the assembly being sol

flow thru

Electronics Forum | Fri Oct 29 13:45:03 EDT 1999 | David Vulcano

We are placing several axial components that have STEEL leads. Have noticed that the steel components do not get good flow thru(we manufacture to IPC-A-610 Class II Standards which reqires 75% flow thru) We are using Seho Wave Machines with Nitroge

Re: 45 Degree Wave Soldering

| For as much as you can minimize bridging in these condition by changing board orientation, the only way to eliminate them may be to add debridging airknife tech to your system, or purchase a system that is fitted with this technology. We have been

PCB Stiffeners

Electronics Forum | Mon Nov 02 23:12:13 EST 1998 | Kelly

We run stiffeners on all of our product through our wave solder process and most of our product through our reflow and adhesive cure oven. The problem is we continually put on and take off stiffeners because of poor reliability of stiffeners staying
