Pascal: Two things: 1 Selective soldering machine discussions and supplier lists are in the SMTnet archives. 2 Some people consider selective soldering machines to be very specialized use tools (too selective ha ha ha) and think carriers tooled f

..and he can put the flux in and keep it a secret too from his customer.. RSS profile on wave?? I never heard of a soak zone for wave preheat...you may be burning off your activator..hence, the beads. For wave preheat, your main goal is to ramp up

Top preheater for wave soldering

I would always have top and bottom preheaters in a solderwave machine. Even if you can make it work without them, it's better to heat both sides of a board then just one. Far less stress on the parts you are soldering. Plus you may need it one day fo

I used to work for an OEM that made professional audio equipment (studio monitors, mixing boards, etc.). The mixers required precise alignment of LEDs, switches, and pots in the sheet metal so we used aluminum alignment fixtures during wave solder. T

Securing components for wave soldering

Basically, it's a tilting problem of certain devices. Usually with axial by-pass caps tilting, which pulls the lead up through it's mounting hole. Other problems with components with leads cut to lenght to eliminate post-wave trimming. All suggestion

Thanks for you suggestions, guys. davef, I am gonna get with my PCB suppliers and talk to them about copper balancing and checking the Tg of the materials they use. SC, I am working towards designing wave pallets for my boards and try your suggesti

Yep, but its hard to contol small parts with the bags. They're good for DIP's and sockets, connectors, but radials are kinda hit and miss. I bought mine from Pentagon EMS. They only use the finest european leather (kidding). PENTAGON EMS 10950 SW

Try spraying flux on top of the loaded PWB when you put it on the conveyor. The tackiness of the flux does a pretty fair job of keeping the axial leaded parts down to the board. This takes more cleaning, but it has worked wonders for me on assemblies

There are some good suggestions here...reflow pallets, and copper balancing. We would also suggest verifying that your problem is not caused by moisture. How much time passed between first side and second side reflow, and how humid is the environme

Board warpage after wave soldering

No, warpage tells you that design and/or fabrication process and/or assembly process need[s] to be corrected. Here's a link to a recent thread on SMTnet that seems to answer some of your questions: http://www.smtnet.com/Forums/Index.cfm?CFApp=1&Mess
