Samir, thanks for the reply. We are wondering if this idea came dowm from a customer a long time back, or maybe from Mil Std 2000. I've never worked with Mil Std 2000, so I don't know about that. We can not find anything in Jstd or 610 about it.

No-Clean Solder

When no-clean flux and no-clean soldering first came out in the late 80's / early 90's, there were lots of White Papers written about conformal coating adhesion and no-clean flux. I'm pretty sure all CC's will adhere to today's chemistries. To be o

Reduction of solder paste usage

First, don't put solder paste in a wave solder pot, the 50% by volume of organics and volatiles will gas off in an astonishing amount of fume, leaving a dismaying mess of spent resin and molten plastic in your pot. Second, when you say, "Paste that

Rigid Flex Wave Soldering

Please note that pin holes and blow holes are not always defects. The latest IPC 610A Rev D workmanship standard has them as process indicators- depending on Class. I don't have the document handly while writing this. It would be good to look that up

You may need slightly longer dwell times and a little more heat in the reflow and wave to ensure proper alloying/wetting. Also consider if you are using a nickel doped and high copper alloy on bare boards in Leaded wave solder bath you will pick up c

Conductive contamination and the elusive solution

Hi Scott, Hard to tell what kind of problem you really have. I guess you need to describe your process first. What kind of process are you using. Wave solder, reflow solder, etc.. What kind of flux are you using to solder with? Vaccum? What ar

Well, Ray Rassmussen believes that "IT" may put China on it's ear. Not sure about any of you, but I never felt the need to splash water on my face whilst reading this white paper. Hate to see how he'd react to seeing a board going over a 500 degree
