SPC for Wave solder (defects on PCB's)

Electronics Forum | Tue Feb 07 09:49:10 EST 2006 | George

Hello everybody, I have been asked to establish a way to improve our wave solder process. I wonder where I should start. We collect data by inspecting our PCB's visually. What's the best way to report data? Ocurrence of defects in total among all

Beginners' steps to run wave soldering process

Read Ralph Woodgates', "The Handbook of Machine Soldering." Ralph is a true lead-head from way back, and his expertise is Wave Soldering. I know later editions have sections on that new fangled technique, "Reflow Soldering", but Ralph does a very c

Hi Everyone, I am in the process of selcting a new wave solder machine for our small company. We currently run 2 Technical Devices (18" Nu Era Jr. dual wave). I considered converting one to Lead free. It seems for alittle more we could have a machin

Novastar or Technical LeadFree Wave

Electronics Forum | Tue Mar 14 15:13:35 EST 2006 | Kevin

The Novastar is primarily a low end machine made in India, I think. Technical Devices is more comparable with other dedicated wave soldering machine manufacturers. I recently got a good deal on a new TD machine with a Titanium Pot and Pump. It was

LASER SOLDERING

Electronics Forum | Wed Apr 19 05:29:30 EDT 2006 | dougs

Good point about the cycle time, we've had a think about this issue, we are set up mainly to do small batch sizes, the reasoning for thinking about laser soldering is that there is no requirements for wave solder tooling, on a batch of 50 boards or s

Howdy, I have an Electrovert econopak smt II. I'm set to change over in June to SN100C. I won't be changing out anything. I'll just be purging the lead out of the solder pot with a tin bath. I don't expect there to be any problems with our change

Howdy Bolo, I see. I currently run a 5 zone 1500 Heller, It's a very nice reflow oven and one of my favorites. Hopefully in July we will be getting in our 1700 from Heller. These reflow ovens (used) can be had for a pretty decent price at least in

Never seen a direct study on these two correlations before. But if you have moisture sensitive devices, higher humidity could have some affect on them. If you are talking regular Rs and Cs over wave solder - I kinda doubt it. Water based fluxes d

Spray fluxing VOC free, as operation HOURS before wave solder

Electronics Forum | Wed Sep 20 12:14:08 EDT 2006 | Rob

Good question - as it is a water based flux then you are going to get a very low level of solvent evaporation, and it's hardly going to be absorbing additional water whilst sitting around. (you actually want the water (carrier element) to evaporate).
