soldering wires

Electronics Forum | Sat May 06 06:58:13 EDT 2000 | Wayne S.

Hello, I am looking for a small solder pot with a fountain or wave. I have seen mini-waves but would like to find something smaller and less expensive. Would like to dip solder wires to small bulb leads. If anyone has any suggestions please follow-

contamination on feedthru wires

Electronics Forum | Mon Nov 13 11:31:10 EST 2000 | John Rep

I am having a problem with wetting on some feedthru wires. The problem seems to be contamination on the wires, due to the fact that the problem seems to be wire lot dependent. I have analysed it using SEM and come up with very little. Is there ano

Hi Wayne, Why do you feel that your solder pot needs a fountain for this application? It is always nice to have a mini fountain wave but it is not always a must. Good flux and a steady hand go along way. Iether way you will need a steady hand! Th

Not too much to go on, bud. Tell us about: * Wire material, finish, insultation, etc * Wetting problem description * Why feed that the wire is used for through is important * Range and extent of the problem * Results of metallographic analysis of "g

OA core solder stranded wires

I am looking for information regarding post wave soldering of stranded wires into a circuit board using OA core wire solder. We do a final pass thru the cleaner after the hand soldering but I'm concerned about any OA flux residue that may have wicke

Soldering wires to through holes

Electronics Forum | Fri Dec 09 11:00:47 EST 2011 | davef

Using common wire size and through hole diameter, we'd expect that the wave solder process would completely fill the through hole and that you wouldn't need to get involved in providing stencil openings, pasting the through hole or reflowing the jump

Soldering wires to through holes

Hi I do not work for a board house but a manufacturing facility where we do a considerable amount of soldering wires to through holes. We pretin our through holes on both sides of the PCB prior to reflowing the solder and installing the conductor (w

Managing Thermocouple wires during reflow profiling

We are using KIC (kicthermal.com) in reflow profiling. It uses thermocouple wires about 0.5 meter only each point. Previously, Winkic the machine built in software which requires about 5 meters wire. No need for the operator to stand there and feed t

We utilize the built in profiling equipment in our reflow ovens. It's somewhat tedious to have the operator stand there and feed the TC wires in as the board progresses through the oven. Otherwise the wires sometimes hang up and the board stops mov

With current soldering of stranded wires to pcb assy's the wire tends to be very brittle and can break with very little movement of the wire. We use a low residue cored wire. Anybody with advice or who has seen a similar problem/knows how to overco
