IEC - 60601 compliant LF-NC Wire Solder

Electronics Forum | Fri Jun 01 17:32:31 EDT 2007 | Chris

Im having problems with electromigration post a IEC - 60601 test (95% humidity for 48 hours). Im looking for a lead-free NC wire solder that will pass. Does anyone know of any that will work? Thanks, Chris

no-clean flux vs. impedance

I should have mentioned... the only flux we use for the hand soldering is wire-core, no bottle flux. I think it should be a non-issue to leave the activated wire core flux residue. I'm just looking for some way to prove it to the designer.

Wire soldering

In the design stages, we have been asked about the difficulty in soldering a 4AWG (stranded) wire to a PCB for a high current application. Questions - can this be hand soldered normally? What about wave? Process will probably be Pb-Free. All opinions

What kind of circuit board are you using that can carry the amount of current that would necessitate the use of a 4 awg wire? Cant you just terminate the cable with a ring terminal and screw or swage it into the board?
