It's a nasty little part, but usuallu solders well. Now your inspectors will thing it's not soldered and try and touch it up, but generally, the exposed leads are not tinned, and will not toe fillet. If they know this up front they won't over heat

Rob is right, you do need to dispense paste or pre-forms when using a laser. Although the Panasonic Soft Beam has a wire despenser. I've seen laser soldering and it does work on smaller stuff. Doesn't work well on connectors even after preheating.

I could be wrong but I don't believe that you can start with any empty spindles. If it picks up nozzles, you will end up with more than one empty changer hole which will not work for the vacuum that is required to remove the nozzles from the spindle
