Have you done a post-mortem on the blown fuse? Assuming it is a glass fuse, if it is all black around the glass then replacing the fuse will be pointless. (the new fuse will just blow again, making a black mark or BLACKER mark all around the glass)

Thank you for the advice Hegemon. I agree that there is a wide range of options available. I'm looking for something that can give me some repeatable surface temp control, is easy to work with, and has at least decent build quality. I don't necessari

I have been doing this since day one of getting the AOI. It just seemed logical. I don't know what type of AOI you have, but what I have found works best is to use solder inspection to catch parts that are loaded into a no-load location. Move the

Is there any good articles to read on solder paste? (just to see if I may of missed something) Sometimes I can not believe the people I have to work with. We had a panel with two “Quad Flat Package” (QFP) one in each of the two circuits, almost fr

I like AIM solder paste, personally. But, much like asking which pick and place machine is best on this board, you're likely to get as many opinions as there are paste manufacturers. I just took a look at Alpha's datasheet for this product, and it

Shear tests are [in my opinion] senseless. The shear stress you measure depends more on the shear rate and on the point where the force is applied than on the grain structure. When shearing a component, you not only apply shear stress, but also roll

You don't say what software version is running on > machine; generally caused by corrupted file; > delete E: config local.lpf file and then reboot > machine (new file will be created). If not this, > recommend reload of machine software (should n

Armando, Is the problem in the same spot on the board with every run? If so, there might be something about that particular location that is part of the cause (ie. ground or power plane connection). It sounds like you're seeing blow holes, or insu

Thanks Dave, I actually found that article yesterday. It is one of the better ones out there. Unfortunately, though Ed does concede that there is a "sweet spot" in the process window for trying to reflow 01005's with SAC305 using air, no further inf

The boards are expensive because they are your product... covered in circuitry. A 2% scrap rate costs twice as much as a 1% scrap rate. Say the parts on your consumer electronics board cost $5. A machine that makes 99% good boards and 1% bad boards
