Boris Mathiszik, BTU’s managing director for Asia Pacific, explained that BTU’s Shanghai operations have grown rapidly since their opening in 2004. “Initially, this plant was geared towards the manufacturing of surface mount technology (SMT) equipment,” said Mathiszik. “Since then, we have added product lines from our photovoltaics portfolio and our operations here are now supporting both electronics and solar customers globally. The ISO 9001:2008 certification positions our operations for additional growth and ensures adherence to the highest quality standards. We are very pleased to have accomplished this important milestone.”
BTU’s Shanghai facility serves as the company’s Asia Pacific headquarters and comprises manufacturing, engineering and process development functions, in addition to sales and service. The facility houses BTU’s first Center of Excellence for Photovoltaics Manufacturing Technology, dedicated in 2008, and is located in the heart of the Chinese solar manufacturing industry.
