AIMS Harsh Environment Electronics Symposium Keynote Speaker Announced

Jul 09, 2009

Minneapolis, MN – The SMTA is pleased to announce Edward A. Morris, Lockheed Martin Corporation, as the keynote speaker for the AIMS Harsh Environment Electronics Symposium held in conjunction with SMTA International, October 5-6, 2009 in San Diego, California. Mr. Morris will review the technical, management and cultural issues being encountered from the transition to lead-free electronics, and will then discuss the risk mitigation actions underway at the national A&D community level and within Lockheed Martin.

Ed Morris is currently the Director of Hardware and Manufacturing on the Lockheed Martin Corporate Engineering & Technology team. Reporting to the Vice President of Engineering, Ed works with the Lockheed Martin Business Areas to develop technical excellence, as well as a sound strategy for the hardware design and manufacturing communities across the Corporation. His focus is on improving the effectiveness of hardware design processes and methods as they influence the affordability, producibility, and testability of Lockheed Martin’s portfolio of products and program execution. He is Vice Chairman of the Lockheed Martin Corporate Production Council. Additionally, Ed is responsible for developing and executing a proactive Lockheed Martin approach for Pb (lead)-Free Electronics.

The symposium will address the concerns related to harsh environment electronics and the challenges within the electronics community, with an added emphasis on military and space. It is intended to bring together the needs of “end-users” with the capabilities of the research community and the industrial supply base.
