ACD to Hold 10th Annual “Controlled Burn”

May 31, 2013

ACD, a leading supplier to the electronics industry, announces that it will hold its 10th annual “controlled burn” barbecue on Friday, June 14, 2013 from 2-5 p.m., and will close down American Parkway for the event. ACD employees host an annual barbecue every June to thank the Richardson Fire Department and other first responders for putting out its “uncontrolled burn” 10 years ago.

This event literally has been burned into my memory. First we saw the incredible efforts of the Richardson Firefighters, then the absolutely amazing efforts of our employees and the support of our vendors and even competitors during our company’s time of need. It is unfortunate that it takes a horrible event like this to make us see our many blessings. This is why every year we celebrate the blessings we have and use this as a time to support our first responders, while saying thank you to current and past employees,” said ACD President & CEO Scott Fillebrown.

On June 19, 2003, an electrical fire burned through ACD’s facility, leaving the company in $2 million worth of ashes. Immediately after the Thursday night fire, ACD employees and their friends and family members worked through the weekend to move operations to a temporary facility where they resumed operations Monday morning. Fillebrown explained that many clients never noticed a disruption in service.

Today, ACD is a leading supplier to the electronics industry. Founded in 1984, ACD’s services comprise complete board layout services, DFM/DFA capability, printed circuit fabrication, component procurement, thru-hole, SMT and part-on-part mixed technology assembly, box build, rework, flying probe, functional and JTAG test, and development.

Food and beverages will be provided and a live band will be at the “controlled burn.” Additionally, a fundraiser for the local volunteer fire department will be held in conjunction with the event. For more information or to RSVP for the event, e-mail Ron Bouchard at Ron.Bouchard@acdusa.com.
