Juki's FlexSolder Series Wins a 2009 NPI Award

Apr 08, 2009

MORRISVILLE, NC - February 2009 - Juki Corporation announces that it has been awarded a NPI Award in the category of Selective Soldering for its FlexSolder Series. The award was presented to the company during a Monday, March 30, 2009 ceremony that took place in the Mandalay Bay Resort & Convention Center in Las Vegas before the start of APEX 2009.

Juki is now offering a new lineup of their popular selective soldering equipment; The FlexSolder Series. There are 3 models available:

The FlexSolder W510 uses the same technology that has been so successful in the past but with a new flexible design, allowing the machine to be assembled anywhere and to allow complete option upgrades in the field. The advantage of the JUKI selective soldering machine over the competitors remains the same as in past machines i.e. the ability to have multiple mini-wave nozzles soldering simultaneously or even better, running separately using 2 different size nozzles. The advantage of this is you can use a nozzle as small as 1.8mm for tight areas (1mm away from SMD or other components) on densely populated boards and a larger nozzle for making single passes on large connectors. This adds much needed flexibility to the process, allowing various soldering options with no change over.

The FlexSolder S3532 is another newly designed machine, but uses the original patented stamp technology that has been used around the world at companies like Bosch and Siemens. Stamp soldering is a way to volumetrically place the correct amount of solder onto the leads of a through-hole component without the need of pumps. The stamp process JUKI uses has many advantages over typical multi-flow types of high speed soldering, but there are 3 very distinct characteristics: (1) The volumetric stamps do not use any pumps, which cause instable waves, solder balls, and an uncontrollable amount of dross, solder balls, and bridging; (2) It is the only machine in the world that can 100% guarantee perfect flatness of the PCB while soldering via top and bottom contour plates; (3) It also uses a stamp fluxing technology which is very fast, perfectly clean with no over spray, and easy to maintain.

The FlexSolder C5132 uses the same technology as the W510 but with the added features of the S3532 High Speed stamp soldering technology. Typically, stamp soldering is used on factory floors which run around the clock and do very high volume production. The new FlexSolder C5132 can be used both in a high volume product and or a very high mix low volume product environment. This is an extremely flexible machine which adds a void in the much needed sector of doing both High and Low volume soldering. Each of these machines can be configured in various configurations based on customer needs.

Premiering in 2008, the NPI Awards program is an annual celebration of product excellence in electronics surface mount assembly. Premier products based on the finest examples of creative advancement in technology are chosen by a distinguished panel of industry experts.

Juki Corporation's experience as the market leader in industrial sewing machines was the stepping-stonefor theentry into the printed circuit board assembly market in 1987. Since then, Juki has delivered more than 20,000 automated assembly systems worldwide and is currently shipping an average of 200assembly machines per month. This extraordinary achievement makes Juki one of the world'sleading providers of automated assembly products and systems. In addition toits core technologies, Juki's Electronic Assembly and Test Systems Division develops and manufactures advanced electronic systems and computer software for data entry, mail processing and other electronic equipment.

With the purchase of Zevatech's assets in November 1999, Juki Automation Systems now brings Juki's reputation for top quality and reliable service alsoto the Northand South American and the European electronics assembly markets. Juki recognizes the challenges of the new century and is prepared to respond to the globalization of electronic manufacturing. With a sophisticated knowledge base, advanced technologies and a high commitment to its customers, Juki is poised for continued growth in the 21st century.
