Juki Wins A Record Breaking Four NPI Awards at APEX 2009

Apr 15, 2009

MORRISVILLE, NC - April 2009 - Juki Corporation announces that it was awarded a remarkable four NPI Awards at APEX this year. The awards were presented to the company during a Monday, March 30, 2009 ceremony that took place in the Mandalay Bay Resort & Convention Center in Las Vegas before the start of APEX 2009.

Juki was awarded an NPI Award in the category of Selective Soldering for its FlexSolder W510 mini-wave selective soldering machine.

The FlexSolder W510 is a traditional mini-wave soldering module that supports board sizes up to 510mm x 510mm. The W510 is able to handle dual mini-waves for simultaneous or individual use. The advantage of individual use is having the ability to solder closer than 1mm to other SMD, but also being able to solder large connectors or other devices without the need for changing nozzle sizes. This is done automatically during production. No other machine in this market has this ability.

Flexibility is paramount in meeting the challenges of selective soldering applications. To meet this need the W510 has been designed to support a wide variety of nozzles. It can support wetted nozzles down to 1.8mm, traditional mini-wave nozzles up to 30mm's, and even a special miniature wide wave which is 60mm wide. The W510 also offers both 0 degree soldering using wetted nozzles and 7 degree soldering that supports mini laminar nozzles allowing for the highest flexibility.

The W510 also supports the use of bar feeders with a closed loop solder bar feeder. The W510 can handle a wide variety of solder bar shapes and sizes for easy use.

The company received another NPI Award in the category of Multi-Function Pick-and-Place for its JX-100. Featuring superior cost performance, versatility, reliable quality and easy operation, JX-100 is a batch machine originally designed for developing markets. However, at its price point it is well suited for NPI and low volume/OEM applications. The system produces maximum effect with minimum investment, and combines high versatility with a reasonable price, is easy to operate, and has a small footprint. It is optimal for companies starting out in surface mount or considering a used machine.

Additionally, Juki received an award for its Intelligent Shop Floor Solutions Software (IS) in its first year in the category of Software. IS raises production preparation, scheduling, quality, and monitoring to a new level by bringing together related functions into one comprehensive software package. Using a server-based architecture, IS gives managers, supervisors, and engineers the tools that they need to streamline production and operate in the most efficient manner possible to reduce cost and improve overall productivity.

IS software is composed of individual pieces of software specialized for each type of job classification and a series of options for higher added value. The client-server system connects the IS server and client PCs on which the software is installed via Ethernet, allowing users to manage multiple Juki lines.

Finally, Juki received an award in the category of High-Speed Pick-and-Place for its FX-3 Chip Shooter. With IPC speed of 60K cph, the FX-3 marks the entrance of Juki into ultra high-speed assembly lines and introduces Juki's standards for high quality, reliability and cost of ownership. The modular FX-3 fits seamlessly into Juki's portfolio of products and adds its powerful optimization software and quick-change feeder banks to set the standard for electronics manufacturing uptime.

Premiering in 2008, the NPI Awards program is an annual celebration of product excellence in electronics surface mount assembly. Premier products based on the finest examples of creative advancement in technology are chosen by a distinguished panel of industry experts.
