GPD Global, a manufacturer of precision fluid dispensing systems for high-volume 24/7, low-volume/high-mix, and R&D production, has advanced its auger pump technology with the introduction of the newly developed Precision Auger Pump. This pump was designed to offer a wide range of functionality in your process development by being compatible with a wide range of auger/cartridge assemblies.
The Precision Auger pump was specifically designed to work with mid-to-high viscosity liquid such as glues, conductive, and non-conductive adhesive and pastes. The pump is controlled with a servo motor equipped with a high resolution precision encoder. The enhanced pump configuration is compatible with a full range of wear resistant carbide augers - high volume 186, mid volume 105, and the new, very low volume 062 auger - all with a single pump. Using the 062 diameter auger, we can repeatedly dispense solder paste for 01005 components.
The Precision Auger pump interfaces with our closed-loop Real Time Process Control system (FPC) to offer consistent fluid feed to the auger/cartridge assembly - it's not dependent on the liquid in the reservoir. FPC interfaces with 5 cc to 55 cc fluid reservoirs. Larger reservoirs, like 6 oz, can be used with a high volume adapter. When using larger reservoirs, the Real Time Process Control significantly enhances repeatability regardless of fluid level in the reservoir.
For high level dispensing accuracy, use the closed loop encoder to program the speed of the pump and the number of counts for a specific dot. Using the encoder ensures repeatable operation and uniform speed when the fluid viscosity changes. A body heater is available to assist in stabilizing fluid viscosity.
The Precision Auger Pump is an excellent selection for the high mix environment and its continually changing process requirements. The ability to change the pump from high volume to low volume applications by merely swapping the internal auger/cartridge assembly gives you the benefit of multiple pumps at an overall lower cost.
Any auger/cartridge configuration can be inserted into the main Precision Auger Body without modification. This means a single pump can process a wide range of applications. Many aspects of the Precision Auger pump are programmable including acceleration, deceleration, speed, and in the case of dots, the number of counts for the dispensing.
