Seika Machinery Offers Discount on McDry PCB Storage Cabinets to Help Customers Meet IPC Storage Guidelines

Jun 25, 2012

Seika Machinery, Inc., a leading provider of advanced machinery, materials and engineering services, announces a special sale to assist its customers with meeting the IPC 1601 PCB Storage and Handling Guideline. Effective June 25-27, 2012, Seika Machinery is offering a special discount on McDry MC-1001 and MC-1002 PCB Storage Cabinets.

Key features and benefits of the MC-1001 and MC-1002 include:
Door opening/closing frequency: Once every 1-2 hours
Compliant to ESD standard IEC-61340-5-1 and IPC 1601
Can maintain an RH level of 3% RH
Equipped with a digital RH Meter
Locking doors
Adjustable shelves that can hold 220 lb (100 kg)
Grounded to prevent static electricity

In accordance with IPC 1601 Standards 5.1, “Before Opening…, If bags are opened under factory ambient conditions (not exceeding 30°C/60% RH), then either:
    a) Place printed boards in dry storage at 10%RH or less within one hour or
    b) Return them to dry packaging (see 4.3.1) within 30 minutes. In this case, the original desiccant and HIC may be reused. Note: If the 60% spot on the HIC indicates wet, the HIC and desiccant should be replaced. If ambient conditions of temperature, humidity, or exposure time are exceeded, printed boards should be evaluated for excessive moisture per 5.8.”

Additionally, “If hold times between assembly or process steps are prolonged (e.g., between soldering operations), printed boards should be kept in dry storage (e.g., dry nitrogen or desiccator cabinets) when they are not being worked on.  Storage at elevated temperatures (bake ovens) may control moisture uptake, but can degrade solderability and increase the rates of copper diffusion and intermetallic growth

Place your order while supplies last for a special discount and to make sure you are meeting the IPC 1601 PCB Storage and Handling Guideline. For your more detailed information about McDry products, please visit www.seikausa.com.
