Carlsbad, CA - Lee Air, Inc., a leading designer and manufacturer of aircraft electronics in Wichita, Kansas, U.S.A., recently purchased an Asymtek Automove A-402 dispensing system to equip their aviation electronics facility. The company previously used a screen printer to apply solder paste on their printed circuit boards, and experienced inconsistent paste volume due to the unique shape of their boards and the inherent limitations of the stenciling process. This led them to discontinue stenciling in favor of dispensing.
As a manufacturer of critical electrical controllers and accessories for the aviation industry, Lee Air's highest priority is consistent, repeatable paste deposition. With the Asymtek dispenser, the DV-7000 Heli-Flow Pump technology, an offset camera and advanced dispensing software, Lee Air customized a dispensing program to control the amount of solder paste dispensed on their products. According to Barney Kassman, Lee Air's Production Manager, the Asymtek dispenser is user friendly and produces consistent results with less waste. In addition, changeovers are quicker and easier.
"We were very impressed with Asymtek's technology and personnel," explained Kassman. "We needed to be up and running quickly with the new machine. Asymtek's field service engineer, Bruce Rusnak, provided a quick but thorough installation, applications setup, and training program. In one day, we were ready to support production with trained personnel. As a result, we are ready to deliver a product with consistent quality and reliability to our customers."
