New Life for Existing Test Equipment

Aug 25, 2008

San Jose, CA., Aug 20, 2008 On the heals of increasing board complexity and size, Solution Sources Programming, Inc. (SSP) has found ways to extend the life of their test equipment by utilizing Agilent's most recent software upgrades for the Agilent 3070 In-Circuit Tester (ICT).

Agilent is making these upgrades available through their normal support contracts or via one-time software updates for Agilent 3070 users.

Upgrading to the latest software for the Agilent 3070 ensures in field compatibility. This is critical for CM/EMS providers and their customers, while still utilizing their existing equipment.

A key component of these recent updates, 7.1 and 7.2, includes 1149.6 capabilities; which utilizes the latest chip technology used in newer board designs.

President of SSP, Dan Orlando, working closely with top design layout houses, has observed the increase in board net counts beyond the capabilities of the largest testers. He said, By implementing Agilent's new software on existing test equipment, our programming process has been able to save our customers tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars in test costs.

Features and benefits SSP has found in using the new Agilent 3070 ICT software are:

  • Reduce large net counts (allow use of smaller fixtures reducing cost and lead times)

  • Less wires (creates higher reliability)

  • Reduction in fixture weight (decrease shipping cost & safer for employees)

From Test Manager's requiring better yields to CFO/Controller's wanting to decrease costs, the SSP solution can satisfy both demands on our current test equipment. SSP can be reached at 408-487-0270 or http://www.ssprog.com
