Integrating technologies at the interface and automating processes in a flexible yet simpler way. This is what atmospheric plasma systems engineer Plasmatreat and industrial robot manufacturer and systems engineer KUKA aim to achieve with their system partnership.

KUKA has developed the ready2_activate application specifically for Plasmatreat technology. This automated, modular platform can be used with all standardized pretreatment processes based on Openair®plasma jet technology without the need for time-consuming preparation. Robots from the KR AGILUS range ensure uniform cleaning, activation or nanocoating of the material surface across the entire working range of a plasma cell. The high-precision motion sequence and respective plasma process are controlled by processors in close communication. The standardized and intuitive user interface makes it easy to program the process. The high-performance, flexible interfaces between the plasma cell and an external machine control unit ensure perfect integration into an overall system or line. At the same time, all plasma parameters are reliably recorded and logged.

The system integration platform for KUKA robots enables PT to offer an automation solution for integrating plasma surface treatment and industrial application know-how into production processes in a simple, standardized manner. From now on it will also be possible to order robots with additional hardware and software with shorter delivery times. The commissioning process has also been improved.

About Plasmatreat:

Plasmatreat is the world market leader in atmospheric plasma technology. The Openair® plasma nozzle technology developed over 20 years ago, from which the multi-award-winning PlasmaPlus® nanocoating technology evolved, is now used for material surface pretreatment in virtually all sectors of industry throughout the world. The Plasmatreat Group has technology centers in Germany (head office), the USA, Canada, China and Japan as well as subsidiaries and sales partners in 35 countries.
