Universal Instruments has announced a limited-time promotion on a scalable production line featuring the company’s award-winning Advantis 3 Platform. This new platform was recognized, at this year’s IPC APEX tradeshow, with a Circuits Assembly NPI Award. This specially configured line features scalable performance and class-leading technology for electronics manufacturing in cost-sensitive markets, and is offered through August 16, 2011 at an introductory price.

The Advantis 3 promotional package includes all of the elements necessary for a powerful and versatile platform line solution. The AC-15S chip placement and AI-07S multi-function platforms combine for a component range of 01005 through 150mm connectors with expansive odd-form capabilities, virtually eliminating manual placement requirements. Also included is a group of Gold tape feeders and nozzles, selected to handle a breadth of components. A license for Dimensions® DPO software to create balanced, optimized machine programs completes this production-ready line solution.

“This solution offers manufacturers in cost-sensitive markets an opportunity to integrate the best-performing midrange platform at an extremely attractive introductory price,” comments Universal Vice President of Marketing, Debbora Ahlgren. “Advantis 3 features a number of features to deliver an unrivaled combination of scalable and adaptable performance for Tier 2/3 OEMs and CEMs with medium-volume, higher-changeover production environments. The AC-15S offers one-of-a-kind scalability with the unique ability to double throughput without adding heads or beams. Further, Advantis 3 boasts a very low cost of ownership, an unmatched component range, and NPI software that delivers a 100% first-pass yield.” Ahlgren continues, “Advantis 3 is the industry’s only scalable platform. Through the field deployment of upgrades specifically designed to dynamically transform platform functionality to match production and technology demands, the Advantis 3 platform is now fully scalable to Genesis Series 2 performance. This gives our customers investment protection and piece of mind knowing that their manufacturing operations can evolve to meet emerging challenges.”

The Advantis 3 Platform portfolio includes both 1- and 3-beam base models and a large overlapping component range between placement heads to maximize utilization. A patented VRM linear motor positioning system delivers high accuracy, acceleration and velocity without the downtime of lead screw-driven positioning systems. Additional class-leading technologies include the Lightning® head – the industry’s fastest – and a host of easily integrated performance options that provide superior investment protection for growing requirements. Advantis 3 re-defines scalability as vision capability can be expanded or spindles added without changing heads, delivering a throughput of up to 34,200 cph on a single-beam platform and allowing a faster ramp to volume. A class-leading component range of 01005 passives through 150mm connectors and expansive odd-form capabilities, as well as features such as automatic touchdown sense further differentiate Advantis 3 in its class. A comprehensive suite of NPI software tools extends beyond new product introduction, assisting throughout production to achieve 100% first-pass yields and ensure the best possible PPM.
