Multitest, a designer and manufacturer of final test handlers, contactors and load boards used by integrated device manufacturers (IDMs) and final test subcontractors worldwide, has successfully added a new application to its MEMS test and calibration product line. With the new application, 3-D earth magnetic field sensors can be used for innovative mobile applications and state-of-the-art navigation applications without the use of a GPS.
Broadening from automotive to mobile/consumer applications, these devices become more cost sensitive. The new MT MEMS equipment not only continues Multitest’s modular MEMS concept, but also responds to the trend of multiple degrees of freedom (DOF) test. Among others, it can be combined with a low-g accelerometer test.
In addition to being an alternative to using the earth’s magnetic field, the application can be configured with external magnetic coils. This configuration provides high magnetic force at the highest accuracy.
The new equipment for 3-D earth magnetic field sensor tests has been in high-volume production for several months now. The field proven performance confirms Multitest’s leading expertise in MEMS test.
