According to company representative Zach Shook, COT recently converted 1200 ft2 of additional warehouse space into a new production cell for the company’s contract machining division. Additionally, COT purchased another 20 mm Swiss Turning Center by Yama Seiki to increase production capabilities and lower product lead times.
The new Swiss Type Lathe offers more flexible operations, such as turning, milling and cross drilling from a different combination of power systems, main-spindle, sub-spindle, front-end tool, rear-end tool, C-axis and driven tools, enabling the work piece to be completed at one time and allowing two operations to be machined simultaneously.
The industries that COT serves rely on accuracy of part specifications and on-time delivery of their orders. This new machine will help COT achieve both. Additionally, the new machine handles high-volume jobs faster by providing COT with increased production speeds and faster processing power. “This new equipment produces tight tolerance, precision components,” said Shook. “As a result, we can now respond to changing customer needs quickly and at highly competitive costs.”
