Sponsored by Reed Exhibitions and CCPIT, the opening day of the 17th edition of NEPCON South China was a great success. Between August 30 and September 1, one of South China's largest, longest standing and most comprehensive SMT platforms is being held at the Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center. The event will combine the organizers’ extensive resources with up-to-date trade information, displays and seminars covering key elements of various sectors.
Spanning nearly 30,000 sqm, NEPCON South China 2011 will attract more than 500 exhibitors from 22 countries and regions. Over 1,000 pieces of electronics manufacturing equipment (including test and measurement products and other components) are set to be showcased on-site.

The 26,000 industry leaders and buyers coming to the show this year are in for a real treat in terms of the dynamic displays on show and the key industry contacts they can look forward to engaging face-to-face. The Electronics Assembly and Packaging Technology Expo (ATE) is running concurrently with NEPCON South China 2011. ATE showcases the full range of technologies and products for electronics manufacturing, assembly and packaging. Exhibitors at this complementary event will display products and services to thousands of local trade professionals who have demanding assembly needs and comprehensive purchasing agendas. It should be noted that in order to provide a more comprehensive exhibit profile to maximize the visitors’ return in visiting the show, this year Reed Exhibitions launched a High precision engineering pavilion within the ATE China. This pavilion is supported by China National Machine Tool Corp, our partner organizer of China International Machine Tool & Tools Exhibition., and will showcase the latest high precision machinery products and technologies.
NEPCON South China covers the SMT, test and measurement, soldering, electro-static discharge（ESD), machine vision（MV), electronics manufacturing services (EMS), tool and robot sectors. High profile companies like Juki, Fuji Machine, Assembléon, KIC, Kyzen, Nihon Superior, CyberOptics Corp., Mirtec, Koh Young and WKK are displaying their newest, most innovative technologies on-site this year. On the first day of the event, streams of visitors poured through the doors. Major players in the electronics manufacturing industry like Huawei Technology, TCL Electronics Huizhou Kone, BYD Limited, Foxconn Technology Group, Shenzhen Zhongxing Telecom, Shenzhen Hang Sheng Electronic, Delta Electronics Power (Dongguan) and Shenzhen Hasee Computer sent significant delegations to visit the exhibition.
Alongside the traditional manufacturing equipment and processes, NEPCON South China 2011 featured the LED lighting sector. Manufacturers of a diverse array of LED products were pleased with the number of new mounters, applied materials, test equipment and services launched by key manufacturers like Sony, Fuji, Henkel, WKK, Omron, Leeport, KIC, Juki, Smartech, Samsung and Panasonic. Applications based on SMT and electronics manufacturing equipment from the LED field are a key focus for visitors to NEPCON South China.
As well as the new products and technologies introduced today, numerous other corresponding activities took place on-site. The SMTA China South Conference, organized by SMTA China, is a key event for the region’s SMT industry. Here, important issues around electronics manufacturing, advanced packaging and lead-free reliability are discussed. Alongside it, the three-day Technology and Vendor Conference is set to provide a comprehensive analysis of environmental protection processes, advanced processes and emerging technologies. SMTA China has also put together other engaging activities, including a technology workshop, the SMTA Engineer Certification program, and the SMTA China (HK Chapter) Breakfast. Each part of this diverse program, which will run parallel to the actual exhibition, is a chance for participants to learn how best to satisfy a diverse range of industry requirements.
The 2011 EDN China Automotive Electronics Forum, co-hosted by NEPCON South China and Electronics Design, Strategy News (EDN) magazine, took place today in the convention center’s Conference Room. EDN is a highly popular tech magazine among local engineers. Topics covered in the forum included the safe management of sensing systems, body control, in-vehicle networks, integrating mobile internet and entertainment systems into the design of intelligent automobiles and new high-performance automobile parts. The testing of automotive electronics and assessment of electric/battery-powered electronic vehicles and hybrids will be another key feature of the forum.
The Electrostatic Prevention Technology Forum, hosted by the China Electronic Instrument Industry Association, Antistatic Equipment Branch, will take place tomorrow, August 31, at the NEPCON Theater. This forum is supported by the Shenzhen Anti-Static Industry Association (SAIA) and SEPIA ESD. In recent years, the sustained rapid growth and development of China’s microelectronics manufacturing, semiconductor, automotive electronics, medical electronics and communication electronics industries has provided the market with an expanding need for electrostatic prevention products and services. Therefore, this meeting is a timely addition to the developmental landscape.
The NEPCON Fans Club will use the QQ and Sina Weibo social media channels to connect with participants and attract new “fans.” Each show participant who uses these online tools will receive a free exhibition souvenir. On September 1, at the NEPCON Theater, the Engineers’ Salon and SMT Home Member Gathering will take place. To celebrate the 11th anniversary of its founding, visitors will be able to interact with the moderator and members of SMT Home.
In keeping with the tradition of featuring numerous top-rated forums, NEPCON South China is adding some fresh new highlights - the NEPCON HC Group Buying New Platform, jointly organized by hc360.com and Reed Exhibitions. This program allows visiting buyers who form purchasing syndicates to enjoy preferential rates on products. For Diamond Club Members, several systems have been put into place to maximize the convenience, comfort and productivity of visiting the exhibition and participating in various activities. Reed hosted a wine taste training, featuring delicious French wines on Aug 30-31 afternoon. Famous sommelier was on hand to talk about the wines, explain the history of red wine and give an insight into the origin of the different brands. She also gave tasting tips and advice on how to fully appreciate a good vintage.
