BEST Expands Rework Services with Automated Non-contact Scavenging

Jan 24, 2013

VJ Electronix, Inc., a leader in rework technologies and global provider of advanced rework and X-ray inspection systems, announces the installation of a new 400ST Automated Scavenger System into BEST’s Rolling Meadows, IL facility.

The new solder excavation [scavenging] system gives us advantages in reballing with a non-contact method of solder excavation, solder removal on plated through-holes on large thermal mass boards as well as in high-volume rework projects,” stated Jim French, PCB rework and repair operations lead of BEST Inc.

The VJ Electronix 400ST provides an automated approach to residual solder removal (site dressing), a process that is commonly performed by hand.  The system’s unique Dynamic Height Sensing ensures consistent process while preventing damage to the delicate solder mask and pads. Automated sequences address large BGA sites, densely spaced QFNs or PoPs, and even through-hole connectors.
