Specialty Coating Systems (SCS) is pleased to announce that it will host an educational webinar entitled, “Enhancing Medical Device Performance and Reliability with Parylene Conformal Coatings” on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015 at 2 p.m. ET | 11 a.m. PT. The webinar will be conducted by Dick Molin, Sr. Medical Device Specialist, and Carla Gillespie, Marketing Communications Manager, and is available for registration at SCSwebinars.com.

For decades, the medical device industry has utilized Parylene conformal coatings for a number of critical reasons, including the protection of devices from their environments, providing electrical insulation, improving lubricity, immobilizing particulates, stabilizing delicate structures and functioning as a primer or interface that is non-inhibitory to tissue growth.

While a number of available conformal coatings are able to offer one desired coating characteristic, multiple needs are typically required by today’s most demanding technologies. An added drawback of many options is that they are often unsuitable for the small, increasingly complex devices that are being designed for the latest innovative technologies. Poly(para-xylylene), known as Parylene, meets these unique challenges. Its chemistry and deposition physics result in a very thin, inert, transparent, biocompatible polymer that provides critical barrier and dielectric properties, as well as extreme chemical inertness in a pinhole-free coating. The biocompatibility of Parylene allows it to be used in a wide range of applications, including, but not limited to, implantable electronics, sensors, pacemakers, electrosurgical tools, stents, catheters and hearing assist devices.

This webinar will offer participants an opportunity to increase their knowledge of Parylene coatings and how they are applied, learn about technologies that benefit from Parylene via enhanced performance and reliability, and get the latest on advances in the industry, including a new antimicrobial Parylene technology.

As the medical device market continues to bring life-changing technologies, Parylene coatings increasingly ensure the utmost in performance and reliability.
