Tecnomatix Expands Capabilities in Japanese and Chinese Manufacturing Markets

Nashua, NH

Tecnomatix Technologies, Ltd. (NASDAQ-TCNO), the leading provider of Manufacturing Process Management software solutions, today announced that eM-Assembly Expert, a key component of the company's eMPower(TM) solution suite for electronics manufacturing, is now available in Japanese and Mandarin Chinese language versions.

The new versions represent the company's commitment to the growing manufacturing markets of Asia and the global collaboration requirements of many contract manufacturers and EMS providers. The versions include local language menus, as well as the importing, exporting and editing of Chinese and Japanese language BOMs (Bills of Material). Additional language support is planned for later in 2002. The Chinese version of eM-Assembly Expert will be demonstrated by Tecnomatix at the Nepcon Shanghai exhibition from April 9-12 in Shanghai, China.

"Local language support enables us to serve and support a greater portion of the region's manufacturers - plain and simple," said Hiroyuki Hirata, president of Nagano Oki Electric Company, LTD. "By distributing our manufacturing centers, we are now able to concentrate on new product development, while still providing process expertise and direction to these various centers. We can focus on growing our profits and intellectual property."

"eM-Assembly Expert is the latest and most powerful version of our PCB assembly solution," said Israel Levy, CEO of Tecnomatix Unicam, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tecnomatix Technologies, Ltd. "As an upgrade path for our Unicam, FujiCam, FABmaster and Exaline products, we need to ensure that eM-Assembly Expert is available to all our customers worldwide, customized not only for each region's languages, but also for their specific existing PDM and CAD/CAM solutions. With this release, we have met this challenge. Internationalizing our technologies creates a great opportunity for our customers to construct a global knowledge web involving multiple geographies which share common technical vocabularies but have different languages."

Levy continued: "The industry trend to move mass production to the Greater China area from US, Europe and Japan will intensify now that China is a member of the WTO. Our customer-focused R&D efforts are well appreciated by our Asian customers and our global partners and I expect that our leading market share in Asia will only continue to strengthen."
