RSI's eSight Design for Manufacturability Solution Lowers PCB Manufacturing and Implementation Costs

Feb 13, 2003

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., Feb 12, 2003 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Router Solutions Incorporated, a recognized leader in software technology for printed circuit board design, manufacturing and testing, announces the release of eSight Design For Manufacturability (DFM) software, its latest productivity tool. With e-Sight DFM, PCB assemblers can minimize design revisions and rework, and head off potential manufacturing problems before they can occur. eSight can reduce time-to-manufacture and time-to-market by as much as 80%.

eSight DFM is a process that analyzes and optimizes ECAD data prior to manufacturing implementation. It evaluates the design for manufacturability and potential production yields, and provides a realistic up-front assessment of potential manufacturing problems. While providing an overview of the entire process, it primarily focuses on assembly and test, the most critical aspects of manufacturability.

eSight DFM reads the ECAD files and applies expert, rules-driven tests for a thorough analysis of the printed circuit assembly process. It assesses and tests critical relationships (for example, solder mask impingement) to optimize test probe access. eSight provides user-defined test parameters that allow definition of keep-out areas. With the eSight Explorer tool, DFM results can be viewed collaboratively, allowing users to share comments and recommendations, and close the loop on design changes.

System architecture is comprised of four major elements: RSI's proprietary CAMCAD, an engine that reads and utilizes ECAD data; eSight Scripter, a module for creating user-defined tests; eSight Runner for executing the scripts; and eSight Explorer for exploring results.
