SMTA and Auburn University CAVE

Apr 21, 2003

The SMTA in cooperation with Auburn University CAVE is organizing a workshop on Harsh Environments and High-Temperature Electronics for June 24-25 in Dearborn, Michigan. The conference chairman is Dr. John Evans, Auburn University.

SMTA vice president of technical programs Dr. Ken Gilleo of Cookson Performance Solutions says, "Known for its roots in the automotive industry, Dearborn is the perfect location for the topic, and teaming directly with Auburn University furthers the SMTA's goal to foster a greater relationship between industry and academia."

Presentations, rather than papers, will comprise a workshop format to provide new and timely information for attendees. The workshop format will allow more time for interaction, questions, and answers. The session for each topic will begin with an overview followed by the detailed presentations.

Presentation topics include, but are not limited to, Issues and Opportunities - Automotive Activities in Semiconductor Technology, Issues with Vehicle Systems, Substrate Advancements, Next Generation Automotive Systems, and Advancements in Materials.

The Keynote Address will be given by advanced electronics manager Matthew Walsh of Delphi Delco Electronics.

For developing information on the Harsh Environments and High-Temperature Electronics Workshop, visit the Symposia page of the Education section, or contact SMTA director of education Kristin Stromberg.
