AsusTeK Selects Cadence SPECCTRAQuest For High-Speed PCB System Development

May 21, 2003

San Jose, Calif., May 19, 2003:

Cadence Design Systems, Inc. (NYSE:CDN) and AsusTeK Computer Inc., Taipei, Taiwan, the world's leading manufacturer of high-quality motherboards, today announced that AsusTeK has selected the Cadence(R) SPECCTRAQuest(TM) design and analysis solution for its ultra-high-frequency, high-speed printed circuit board (PCB) motherboard designs.

AsusTeK's design team uses SPECCTRAQuest to manage high-speed PCB development through simulation analysis and constraint-driven layout tasks. With its optimized SPICE-based analysis engine and field solvers tightly integrated into the PCB layout design environment, SPECCTRAQuest allows users to develop optimum constraints and enable a constraint driven high-speed flow for complex motherboard designs. With a unified and consistent constraint management system, post-route simulation becomes a "verification" process with a high chance of first-time success, provided that thorough solution-space analysis has been performed.

"SPECCTRAQuest helps our design team address signal integrity issues, as well as understand layout problems during the entire design process, thus optimizing our designs and design process," said Jason Cheng, vice president of Design Engineering, Desktop PC Mother Boards, AsusTeK. "SPECCTRAQuest's simulation accuracy correlated through our own measurements and coupled with the complete integrated environment affords us tremendous advantages over our previous tools."

"AsusTeK's selection of SPECCTRAQuest for complex motherboard designs underscores the product's robust capabilities and ability to shorten design cycles, enabling faster time-to-volume production for the company's products," said Charlie Giorgetti, vice president and general manager, Cadence PCB Systems Division.
