Juki Corporation Wins a 2008 NPI Award for Its 350 Selective Soldering System

Apr 07, 2008

MORRISVILLE, NC - March 31, 2008 - Juki Corporation, a world-leading provider of automated assembly products and systems, announces that its 350 Selective Soldering System has been awarded a 2008 NPI Award in the category of Selective Soldering. The award was presented to the company during a Monday, March 31, 2008 ceremony that took place in the Mandalay Bay Resort & Convention Center in Las Vegas before the start of APEX 2008.

The Juki 350 is a complete low cost, high-level package ready for lead-free production offering high reliability and industry-leading service and support features. It comes standard with an X,Y, Z and A axis servo drive system and is fully equipped with all of the functionality necessary to begin production immediately. The system includes a soldering unit that features forced hot air nitrogen pre-heat at the mini-wave nozzle. Nitrogen pre-heat limits dross build up, opening the process window and reducing maintenance. An innovative nitrogen management system is used to reduce nitrogen consumption.

Other standard features of the Juki 350 include: a spray fluxer or micro-dot drop jet fluxer mounted on an individual A axis servo drive, a 5 liter pressurized flux tank, an exchangeable quick exchange mini-wave nozzle from 4mm to 30mm in diameter (custom nozzles are available by request), an exchangeable lead-free ready solder pot with 110 lb. capacity, an auto feeder solder roll for maintaining solder pot feed level, a wave height on/off control feature, online/offline programming software that can accept images such as JPG, BMP, TIF, as well as Gerber files for easy programming with a simple to use GUI, and a float sensor for keeping constant levels of solder in the pot at all times.

The 350 is available with a dual nozzle, dual fluxing capability allowing different types of nozzles to be utilized on a single board. This feature makes the 350 the most flexible machine in its price range. Also available on the 350 is an endoscope process camera that allows for viewing the process live and in real time to ensure quality soldering of each board.

The 350 Selective Soldering System is a result of the partnership of Soldercom, Inertec, and Juki

who have teamed up to design and manufacture, sell, and service selective soldering products of the highest quality, reliability and innovation. The 350 is supported by the experienced and highly trained Juki service group, providing the largest service coverage in the Selective Soldering industry in North America.

Premiering in 2008, the NPI Awards program is an annual celebration of product excellence in electronics surface mount assembly. Premier products based on the finest examples of creative advancement in technology are chosen by a distinguished panel of industry experts.

Juki Corporations experience as the market leader in industrial sewing machines was the stepping-stone for the entry into the printed circuit board assembly market in 1987. Since then, Juki has delivered more than 20,000 automated assembly systems worldwide and is currently shipping an average of 200 assembly machines per month. This extraordinary achievement makes Juki one of the worlds leading providers of automated assembly products and systems. In addition to its core technologies, Jukis Electronic Assembly and Test Systems Division develops and manufactures advanced electronic systems and computer software for data entry, mail processing and other electronic equipment.

With the purchase of Zevatechs assets in November 1999, Juki Automation Systems now brings Jukis reputation for top quality and reliable service also to the North and South American and the European electronics assembly markets. Juki recognizes the challenges of the new century and is prepared to respond to the globalization of electronic manufacturing. With a sophisticated knowledge base, advanced technologies and a high commitment to its customers, Juki is poised for continued growth in the 21st century.
