Test Economics Course in Silicon Valley

Jan 07, 2010

"Test and Testability Economics have never been more important and timely," claims Louis Ungar, President of the testability consulting and educational firm, A.T.E. Solutions, Inc.

In November of last year Ungar joined Scott Davidson and Helen Colby at the International Test Conference (ITC) to teach this unique course. While Ungar covers the bread and butter test benefits vs. test cost models for IC-level, board-level and system level test and diagnoses, Davidson and Colby introduce a more exciting approach of test economics based on behavioral economics. Colby presents the economic models and Davidson, a testability engineer with many years of test experience applies these principles to test. The take away is an important new paradign to tackle the test issues.

Those who attended the ITC class found this approach enlightening and felt at ease with using insurance, endowment and other economic models.

A.T.E. Solutions, Inc. decided to offer this course as an intensive one-day format open to the public in San Jose, CA on March 11, 2010. The cost is $695 per person, reduced to $595 when two or more attend from the same company. "Test engineering managers have been fighting an uphill battle in trying to justify test, only to be burdened with further reduction in test costs. They need the amunition this course offers to show management test's true nature - a beneficial solution to economic problems. When properly used, test can be a great mechanism for savings, and this class provides attendees with the tools they need to justify this to mangagement," says Louis Ungar.
