Microscan expands NERLITE®, the most reliable machine vision lighting products for industrial applications

May 13, 2010

RENTON, WA, — Microscan, a global technology leader for track and trace solutions, announces the recent expansion of their NERLITE® machine vision lighting product line. The portfolio now includes approximately 300 standard lighting configurations in multiple geometries, sizes, and wavelengths.

Expansions have included the addition of infrared (IR), ultraviolet (UV), blue, and white wavelengths to most standard geometries of lights. Basic NERLITE® geometries include ring lights, area arrays, bar lights, dome lights, dark field, and high intensity lights. NERLITE® specialty configurations include Edge to Edge backlights, and DOAL®, CDI® and SCDI® illuminators.

Microscan has also optimized the product line for factory automation applications by standardizing on 24-volt power, standardizing on industrial connections, allowing operation to 40º C, and using a single-point controller for any light. The new NERLITE® NL-200 lighting controller is an Ethernet-based product that can be accessed and controlled via any internet browser. It also offers precise light intensity control of illumination, plus fast and microsecond accurate timing for strobe control in high speed applications.

“The updated NERLITE® product line allows our customers to focus on the critical lighting requirements of their machine vision application, such as the wavelength (color), field of view (size) and required geometry to optimize the signal-to-noise ratio of acquired images,“ states Dr. Katsuji Takasu, Microscan Product Manager. “This means NERLITE® customers do not need to be concerned with choosing the right controller, determining the correct voltage, or picking the right connector for a successful installation.”

In addition, all NERLITE® machine vision lights are 100% LED-based which has the advantage of fast response, long life, multiple wavelengths and high intensity capability. NERLITE® lights are backed by an industry leading 3 year warranty with standard lights in stock and ready for rapid delivery.

“As a pioneer of machine vision lighting technology, NERLITE® has an excellent reputation in the industry as a reliable, high quality provider of machine vision illumination,” states Jeff Timms, Microscan President. “Microscan recognizes the importance of lighting in successful machine vision and 2D barcode reading applications and will continue to invest in this technology.“
