"With a throughput of 70,000 cph in a 1280mm length, this is a fast module, however it's really defined by its versatility," affirmed Tom Baggio, Panasonic Group Manager of Engineering Services. "The numerous combinations of available placement heads and supply methods solve many challenges in electronics manufacturing. An intelligent fluxing unit allows for PoP components from both tape and tray while providing the necessary feeder inputs. Process technologies such as 3D sensing and chip thickness sensing are also possible.”
"The NPM-W opens new markets for Panasonic. Yes, it can process large boards for industries requiring that, but it can also save manufacturing time when processing smaller boards since it can populate them in tandem with zero transfer time. Existing production lines can be enhanced by an NPM-W with the high-speed 16-nozzle head or, for larger components, the high-speed 3-nozzle head," added Mr. Baggio.
As with the entire NPM platform, the innovative design utilizes the already advanced features of Panasonic’s CM-series placement equipment, including the same intelligent feeders and nozzles with interchangeable head capabilities. This assists in minimizing the cost of capital investment and spare part inventory management expenses.
Panasonic will show the NPM-W at APEX 2011, April 12-14th in Las Vegas, NV in booth #2259.
