MVP continues to lead the way in innovation within the AOI marketplace. MVP will be demonstrating several examples of ease-of-use programming from SMT to 3D Paste, and to complex BGA inspection. In addition MVP will demonstrate Validate and Auto-Optimize, the groundbreaking solutions to allow users to automatically determine and tune performance to drive 0% false calls and 100% defect detection while providing true visibility of AOI performance.
Systems on display at MVP’s booth will be the Supra E and Ultra IV 3D AOI solutions as well as the flexible Microelectronics based Ultra 850G.
The Supra E provides customers with the best cost to performance ratio for any AOI system. Capable of inspecting 20x20 inch boards the system utilizes MVP’s latest ease-of-use software and includes options for automatic database generation from a variety of input sources without the need for 3rd party data translators. As with all of MVP’s inline SMT focused AOI solutions, the Supra E comes standard with a true 10 micron pixel resolution for inspection of components as small as 01005, with full solder inspection. In addition, MVP supports sub-pixel algorithms with proven performance in demanding metrology applications.
The Ultra IV is MVP’s workhorse for ultra high volume production lines. The Ultra brand has been proven by its robust design to provide the highest up time of any AOI solutions on the market. With the lowest MTBF in the industry, the Ultra IV builds on its predecessor’s reputation. The system is available in standard 20x20" configuration and with the XL option MVP provides inspection envelopes up to 20x30". MVP will be demonstrating the XL capabilities also at their booth this year.
The Ultra IV's flexible configuration will be demonstrated with the Dual 3D camera technology and MVP’s latest ease of use programming tools. MVP will demonstrate programming from Gerber to 3D Paste inspection ready databases in less than 10 minutes.
The Ultra IV is the world's only full 2D/3D capable AOI machine. This dual capability configuration provides a complete line inspection solution. It can inspect boards immediately after the printer for true volumetric measurement of paste deposits, it can then inspect after the pick and place machine for pre-reflow inspection and then after the oven for industry leading post reflow inspection. This capability is performed while using a patented 3D inspection methodology for paste inspection, which removes shadowing and specular noise.
In addition, MVP will be demonstrating their LEAN Shop Floor Management interface, Dynamic Process Control (DPC). Bringing immediate visible control to your production line, DPC supports all the main production line equipment from multiple suppliers. DPC provides total LEAN Shop Floor Management from bare PCB’s to fully populated product and constantly drives process improvement by focusing on the weakest areas for immediate results, ensuring maximum efficiency and schedule adherence.
MVP also will have their in-line, Microelectronics focused, Ultra 850G platform on display. Configurable to a 1 micron pixel size, the Ultra 850G exhibits the same degree of flexibility for the Semicon and Packaging industries as the Supra, Ultra and Spectra series machines. Applications on MVP’s Ultra 850G include, but are not limited to: wire bond; high accuracy die placement metrology; surface finish inspection for foreign objects and scratches; inspection of micro-SMT; epoxy underfill; glues and sealants; 3D paste and BGA inspection; and material dimensional metrology.
The Ultra 850G has a proven track record of success with a broad range of applications across both SMT and Microelectronics covering commercial, medical and defense based devices and continues to be a highly successful and well-received product within the microelectronics and packaging arena.
MVP will be demonstrating their new ease of use programming for BGA inspection. Even with no cad data input, MVP’s new ease of use wizards allow for programming a wide variety of different BGA layouts in a matter of minutes. Our BGA application allows for full AOI inspection of ball metrology, ball height, ball misplacement and presence, and substrate surface finish.
