J-STD-001 COURSE OVERVIEW
|
J-STD-001 Certified IPC Specialist and Certified IPC Instructor are a combination lectured and hands-on course covering the information in IPC/EIA J-STD-001 document. The J-STD-001, “Requirements for Soldered Electrical & Electronic Assemblies”, describes materials, method and acceptance criteria for producing soldered electrical and electronic assemblies. This document has been adopted for use by the Department of Defense (DOD) effective July 19, 2001.
This course emphasizes J-STD-001 document interpretation. It is a 5-day program, designed to teach selected content of the J-STD-001. Students will demonstrate soldering skills on surface mount, through-hole assemblies, wire and terminal assemblies along with completing open and closed book exams for CIT level Students who are required to score an 80% or better and no score less than 80% on skills examinations. CIS Students must score a 70% on open tests and no score less than 80% on skills examinations. The certification gives individuals valuable recognition of their understanding of the J-STD-001. Upon successful completion Specialists will receive an Official IPC Certificate valid for 2 years.
The program for Certified IPC Specialists is divided into 5 one day modules, each covering a different technology or area of soldered electronic assemblies.
Module 1: Introduction and overview of the J-STD-001/Safety, General requirements/General soldering and assembling requirements.
Module 2: Wires and Terminals-Wire and terminal assembly and soldering and Labs.
Module 3: Through-Hole technology-Component Prep/Mounting/Demo/Lab/PTH Lab.
Module 4: Surface Mount components-SMT Demo/Lab/SMT Lab.
Module 5: Inspection Methodology-Product Assurance/Theory of Inspection/SPC/Inspection Skills/Demo/Lab/Inspection Lab.
This program for Certified IPC Instructor – Recognizes qualified instructors and will present knowledge of the J-STD-001 as it pertains to selected sections covering Wire and Terminals, Through-Hole and Surface Mount technology in both lead and lead-free. As part of the requirements for instructor certification, students will be evaluated on their soldering skills in both lead and lead-free, and must score an 80% on both the written and skills examinations.
Upon successful completion Instructors will receive Instructional materials necessary for conducting Certified IPC Specialist Training and an Official IPC Certificate valid for 2 years.
