The purpose of this course is to assist the electronic manufacturer produce high quality products at the lowest possible cost by providing a greater understanding of the soldering and assembly processes through “standard” training.

This course is for students currently certified to J-STD-001.


This course will re-certify operators to applicable J-STD modules. Module 1 is required for re-certification. Operators will review important aspects of each applicable module they were originally certified in.

Module 2 - Wires and Terminals - 4 hours

Module 3 - Through Hole Technology - 4 hours

Module 4 - Surface Mount Technology - 4 hours

Module 5 - Inspection - 4 hours


  • ANSI J-STD-001 Manual
  • Applicable soldering kit(s)

Students will receive an IPC J-STD-001 “Operator Proficiency” certificate with an overall score of 70% or better, on classroom written exams and an overall score of 70% or better on soldering demonstrations.

Prerequisite: J-STD-001 Operator Proficiency Certification
Class Length: 4 hours for each module
