Reflow with lead-free 96.5 /3/0.5 No-Clean T4 brown-orange burn color on parts

Keep in mind that the oven temperature does not, necessarily, equate to the board temperature. The thermal characteristics of the parts and copper will cause the board temperature to be different, sometimes significantly, than the oven temperature.

So here is my problem with the info you gave. If my preheat topside max is 150 - 170 C but my flux calls out a topside temp of 93 - 104 C..... ....Im pretty much up a creek becuase of a poor flux choice? FYI. we are using the Indium 3590-TX for bo

As was stated before, you need to have oven temperatures (profile) set such that you get good solder joints with the paste you are using. And definately run a profiler through yor oven to verify it is working properly. As for components, most data

Prototype SMT & Ltd Prod Line Choices & Advice

MyData PNP machines are good for high mix/low volume because change over time between jobs is lower than with many other PNP machines. They also handle parts on cut tape strips easily and you will have these with low volume runs. As for lead free o

Steve, Thanks for Your replay and I agree with You. But sometimes I find it hard to always have the optimum in every aspect of our high mix/low volume electronics assembly production. We also do a lot of prototype production. In this case we had to g

Oop's Pb BGA's in a RoHS process?

Again, the verdict is mixed here as well, but from the seminars, white papers, etc. the consensus seems to be that Pb BGA's are not compatible in a Pb-Free RoHS Process...but... Pb-Free SAC BGA's are compatible in a Sn-Pb process as long as your pro

Hi, What are your thoughts about the article saying that the lead will leach out of the solder joint to the last place to cool, creating a weak point? I have two worries about the report. First, is that we have always used tin lead solder, and le

BTU TRS-14

I don't believe that the TRS14's are suitible for lead free - the max temp rating from the data sheet is 275oC. When you get near temperatures like 350 C I'm under the impression that the oven itself would start suffering embrittlement damage. Howev
